Sugar Lips

The winter months are fast approaching and with it comes that familiar, dry skin we all dread. We've all got our favorite methods; salt or sugar scrubs, creams, lotions, moisturizers, etc. Everyone has a routine that they swear by and what works for me won't necessarily work for you. But exfoliating and moisturizing your body is a story for a different day, because my biggest concern, all winter long, is my lips. Dry, cracked, chapped and just plain mad at me, for staying in this frigidly cold, dry city for yet another winter.

I'm a loyal product junkie. I find something I like and I stick with it. That is not to say that I'm not open to new products, because I'm always down for something new and improved. But, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, you know? And this goes DOUBLE for my lip moisturizers.

My current, can't live without, winter love of my life, is tarte's fRxtion natural sugar exfoliator and lip balm duo. From the day I found this product, I was hooked (and as an added bonus, it's only $15). I'm picky when it comes to lip balms, moisturizers, et al. I hate it when they're sticky, or when it smells like candy and tastes like wax. But this one... this one is just LOVE. It's soothing, calming and my favorite part? It's sweet like vanilla. Plus it makes my lips SO soft and as another bonus? He likes it too. ;-)
Now I don't expect everyone to fall head over heels for this product the way I have, so in true Sequins fashion, I've got a few others for you to check out:

  1. I adore tarte. They just rock in every way possible. Benefit had one last year called Dr. Feelgood's lipscription that I loved! They discontinued it over the summer (booo!)

Here in Colorado we get the double-team of winter and 6000+ ft altitude. Chi winter has NOTHING on what that does to lips. Lip balm here is like gold. I will have to try that tarte one when my Benefit one runs out.

I have the philosophy one as well but only tried it once because the Benefit was so good. I'll have to give it another go now that I can't have Benefit anymore.

Thanks for this post because, at least now I will have other options when mourning the end of my lipscription.

  2. As much as I LOVE my tarte, I'm going to branch out a bit and try the Sara Happ Cocoa Lip Scrub, just cuz I bet it's delicious. :-)

  3. The Iredale Butter and Sugar one sounds yummy too. Just the name reminds me of stealing spoonfuls of butter and sugar from grandma's bowl where she was starting a cake when I was a kid. Plus, there's an edition that donates to breast cancer research.

[Suddenly thinking that I should pretend to be making a cake and just eat the butter and sugar...]
